User File Panel

The User File panel allows you to access user files to create and maintain profiles for individual users and user templates.

To access the User Files panel

  1. The Server Management Tool must be running and the SMT work panel displayed.
  2. From the resource outline, click File Tools > User Files.
    The User Files tabbed configuration panel appears.
    When first opened, the User Files panel is empty.


To load a user file

  1. Click Open.
    The User List list box appears.
    The default choices presented are files in the run directory containing the keyword *user*or *usr*. To see all the files available in the run directory, click the drop-down list and select All Files (*.*).
  2. Select the user file you want to load and click open; you may also double-click the file name.
    The panel fills with profile entries from the selected user file.

    Note: If the user file contains both user entries and default entries, SMT filters out the Default user entries and reads them into the Default User Entries tab user table.

To add a new user

  1. Open the user file you want to add a user.
  2. Click .
    A blank User Item Properties dialog box for the new user appears.

  3. Enter the User Name.
  4. Add Reply Items and Check Items. (See the following section for the procedure).
  5. Click OK.
    The User Items Property dialog box appears displaying the new user information.
  6. Click Save.
  7. For the changes to take affect, click Reload User File.

To edit or add user Check Items or Reply Items

  1. If necessary, select a user profile to edit from the User Entries or Default User Entries tab.
  2. Double-click the user name or click the button to display the User Item Property dialog box.

     
  3. From the User Item Properties, select either the CheckItems or Reply Items tab.
  4. You may now add attributes from the scrolling Properties list on the left side of the panel. (You may add/delete entries from the Check Items and Reply Items attribute lists. See Editing Property Lists.)
    Do one of the following:
  5. Once you have selected or entered a value, click the between the Properties list and the Defined Properties list.
    The attribute is added to the user profile. You may also enter text comments for the user profile on the Comment tab.
  6. When edits are done, click OK.
    The User Items Property dialog box appears displaying the user's profile.
  7. You can sort the check or reply items by selecting the item and use the up/down arrows to move the item.
  8. Click Save.
  9. For the edits to take affect, click Reload User File.

To create a new user file

  1. Click New.
    The New File dialog box appears.


  2. Enter the new file name .
    You can name the file anything you want. However, user. is typically used as the file name prefix.
